StatDoctor: September 2026
230+ radiology clinics, police checks under $60, and we won Startup Tank.
A note from Anu
Welcome to the September round-up. A big month at both ends. We passed 650 doctors on the platform, with 107 of you joining in September alone, our strongest month so far. We also brought the entire Hunter New England network live, 59 hospitals and community health services across northern NSW in one go, which means a lot more work coming through in that part of the country. Radiologists, start at the top: we are now recruiting across more than 230 radiology clinics. There is also a new police check partnership that should save you money every year, a note below on a very good night at Startup Tank, and a reminder that AHPRA renewals close today. As always, just hit reply if anything catches your eye.
Month Highlights
- 1Radiologists, we need you. We are now recruiting for over 230 radiology clinics and counting, with reporting and on-site sessions available nationwide.
- 2650+ doctors and counting. 107 doctors joined in September, our biggest month yet, taking us past 650 on the platform and 371 facilities.
- 3Hunter New England is live. All 59 sites across the network are now on StatDoctor, from Tamworth and Armidale down to the Newcastle community health services. If you work in northern NSW, there is a lot more coming through your feed.
- 4Police checks for under $60 a year. We have partnered with Validex so StatDoctor doctors can get an annual police check for under $60. Most health services want a check no older than 12 months, so this is a cost most of you carry every year anyway. You are free to use any provider you like, this is simply the cheapest route we have found. Reply if you would like the link.
We won Startup Tank
On 29 September we pitched at Startup Tank and were voted best startup by the judges. One of those judges was Nick Bell, from the actual Shark Tank. We had 3 minutes to explain why hospitals are short staffed but still cough up over $1B every year to recruitment agencies and how StatDoctor does it differently. The victory means I get a 1 on 1 pitch to Nick next week. None of this changes what we do tomorrow morning, which is get you good work and get you paid properly for it. But it is a good sign that the argument now works on people outside medicine, and that matters for how fast we can build the rest of it. Thank you to everyone who has posted a shift, taken one, or told a colleague.
On the Hyper Ventures podcast
I also sat down with Sam Cust at Hyper Ventures for a much longer conversation than three minutes. We got into why I left the ward to build this, what is actually broken in the way hospitals fill a shift, and where we are taking StatDoctor next. If you want to see more about what we are doing, the full episode is worth a watch.

September News
AHPRA renewals close today, 30 September
If you have not renewed yet, today is the day. The 2026/27 fee is $1,102, or $925 in NSW, and renewal runs through the Ahpra portal with multifactor authentication. Late renewal means a late fee and eventually the lapsed list.
Rural generalist medicine is now a recognised specialty
Applications for specialist registration in rural generalist medicine are now open. If you hold the relevant ACRRM or RACGP qualifications you can apply in the newly approved field. A long time coming for rural generalists who have been doing specialist work without the title.
30 percent registration fee rebate if you have taken leave
If you have taken at least six continuous months of protected leave, such as parental leave, you are eligible for a 30 percent rebate on your annual registration renewal fee. Worth checking before you renew today.
New guidance on off-label, unapproved and compounded medicines
Ahpra and the National Boards have released new guidance on your obligations when prescribing outside approved uses, with particular attention to peptides. Relevant reading if you prescribe in hormone therapy, weight management or performance medicine.
That's it for this month. Any questions, or a facility or partner you think we should feature next month? Just hit reply.
